John Zink is an Associate Professor of Economics at Morningside University, affiliated with the Accounting and Business Department. He specializes in political economy and the philosophical foundations of economic theory. He holds a B.A. in Economics from St. Olaf College (1990) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah (2005), where he focused on political economy and the history of economic thought.
Zink’s research emphasizes the intersection of political economy and media, as seen in his 2017 article in the Real World Economic Review. His teaching spans microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and U.S. economic history. He innovates with classroom simulations like the Production Possibility Frontier Game and The Pearl Exchange to enhance student understanding of complex economic concepts.
Outside academia, Zink enjoys sailing, guitar, and coaching youth soccer. He resides in Sioux City with his wife and four children aged 8 to 18.
