Dr. John W. Neumayr (1930–2022) was a founding member and pivotal figure of Thomas Aquinas College. As a four-year basketball star at the University of Notre Dame, he transitioned to philosophy studies, earning a doctorate from Université Laval under Charles DeKoninck. He co-founded Thomas Aquinas College in 1969, serving as its first dean until 1981 and remaining on the teaching faculty until 2016. A dedicated advocate for classical liberal education rooted in Catholic faith, he played key roles in shaping the College’s curriculum and governance. His contributions included drafting the founding documents and leading early recruitment efforts. Neumayr also served on the Board of Governors since the College’s inception and was honored posthumously for his lifelong dedication to education and the Church.
