Dr John Tredinnick-Rowe is a Senior Research Fellow (0.6 FTE) at the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research (CAMERa) and a Research Fellow (0.4 FTE) at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula (PenARC). He is affiliated with the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Plymouth, part of the Faculty of Health.
His research focuses on medical education, healthcare policy, and semiotics in clinical contexts. Notable areas include medical remediation, validity in assessment, and the application of Bourdieu’s sociological theories to healthcare organizations. He has contributed to initiatives such as the Cornwall community health worker model and studies on healthcare workers’ well-being during the pandemic.
Teaching includes the MSc in Clinical Education, particularly on ‘Assessment in Clinical Education’ and a Student Selected Unit on medical humanities. He has supervised students in the MSc Oral Surgery program. His work intersects with regulatory reform, medical ethics, and regional healthcare challenges in Cornwall.
Dr Tredinnick-Rowe collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on projects like the UMbRELLA study on medical revalidation and has published extensively on topics ranging from clinical governance to green technology in healthcare.
