John Tomich, Ph.D., is a Professor at Kansas State University's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. He serves as Director of the Biotechnology/Proteomics Core Facility and as an Undergraduate Advisor. His research focuses on synthetic peptides for drug development and renewable biomaterials using biologic, synthetic, analytic, and physical methods.
- B.A. (1974) - University of Connecticut
- M.S. (1975) - Purdue University
- Ph.D. (1980) - University of Waterloo
The Tomich laboratory specializes in Branched Amphiphilic Peptide Capsules (BAPCs) for biomedical applications. Their work spans drug delivery systems, nanocarriers, and gene editing tools, with recent publications exploring CRISPR/Cas9 delivery, cellular uptake mechanisms, and biodegradable nanocapsules. The lab investigates supramolecular peptide structures and biomaterials using interdisciplinary approaches.
Publications highlight trends in nanotechnology, peptide engineering, and RNA interference. The research demonstrates precise control over nanocapsule morphology, biocompatibility, and targeted delivery systems.
