Dr. John Sohl is a Professor of Physics at Weber State University. His research spans applied physics, atomic/laser physics, and biophysics, including projects on high-altitude balloon instrumentation, UV vision in ants, and electromagnetic field effects on biological systems. He received the Utah Engineering Educator of the Year award in 2011.
Research interests include the HARBOR project (near-spacecraft development), atomic spectroscopy, laser cooling, and science education outreach. His recent work involves multi-sensor arrays for atmospheric monitoring and dust particle analysis from the stratosphere.
Dr. Sohl teaches astronomy, applied optics, and data acquisition courses, and directs the university's science fair program.
