John Snijders is Associate Professor of Performance at Durham University's Department of Music. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory The Hague, he serves as Head of Music Performance and maintains an active international performance career alongside academic duties.
Research explores performance practices in 19th-century piano repertoire and avant-garde composers Morton Feldman and John Cage. Specializes in connections between contemporary music and visual arts, particularly through interdisciplinary collaborations with galleries and artists.
Artistic output includes over 30 commercial recordings and premieres of works by Gerald Barry, Christopher Fox, and Richard Rijnvos. Performance history spans major European festivals including Wien Modern, Ars Musica, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
