John Simpson is a Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge's Department of Architecture and a Visiting Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. He is principal of John Simpson Architects, renowned for promoting New Classicism in architecture. His academic roles include professorships at the University of Buckingham (2018) and the University of Notre Dame (2016–present), and leadership at the Prince's Foundation in the 1990s.
His research focuses on classical architectural traditions, urban design, and the integration of historical techniques into modern projects. Notable projects include the Paternoster Square masterplan (1990s), the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (Stanford Hall), and the restoration of the University Arms Hotel in Cambridge.
Key awards include the Palladio Award (2021), DIAPHOROS Prize (2020), and AIA Honor Award (1990s). He has authored or contributed to multiple books, including a monograph by Clive Aslet published by Rizzoli Books.
