John Schwartz is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Criminal Justice within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Information Technology (CECH) at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a B.A. in Psychology (1996) and an M.S. in Criminal Justice (2000), both from the University of Cincinnati.
Research Interests: Schwartz focuses on criminal justice education, institutional research, grant management, and compliance. His work emphasizes program evaluation, scholarly productivity analysis, and the development of effective research administration practices.
Grants and Roles: He has served as Principal Investigator (PI) or collaborator on over 50 grants, managing millions in funding. Notable roles include Director of Business Affairs (2014–2019) and Senior Business Officer (2022–present) in CECH, overseeing budgets, grants, and operational compliance. His expertise spans financial management, institutional review board (IRB) processes, and training programs in evidence-based practices.
Presentations and Service: Schwartz has presented at national and regional conferences on topics like IRB efficiency and research administration. He chairs the University of Cincinnati Business Officer Council and serves on the Staff Senate. He has reviewed manuscripts for the Journal of Criminal Justice Education and participated in NSF grant panels.
