John Schmidt is an Associate Professor in the Cinema and Media Arts Department at the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts, Biola University. With over 35 years of film industry experience, he has taught at Biola since 2002, specializing in cinematography, editing, sound design, and documentary production. A graduate of UCLA's film school and Fuller Theological Seminary, Schmidt balances academic theory with practical filmmaking, emphasizing character development and cultural impact.

His research and teaching focus on narrative filmmaking, technical cinematography, and ethical documentary practices.
