John Ross is an Adjunct Professor of Music Theory at the Osher School of Music, part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Southern Maine. He also serves as Artist Faculty at the Portland Conservatory of Music in Maine and has held faculty roles at Cottey College, West Virginia State University, and multiple music camps. His roles include soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, and educator.
Dr. Ross holds degrees from West Virginia University, Ball State University, and Florida State University, studying under notable instructors. He is pursuing a body mapping certification through the Association for Body Mapping Education. His professional ensembles include Wild Prairie Winds (professional wind quintet), folk trios Cuttin’ Bracken and Rakish Ramblers, and flute ensemble Silver Lining Flutes.
He has performed internationally at venues like the Kennedy Center and Lucerna Great Hall, and led educational initiatives through masterclasses in Costa Rica and Florida. His orchestral affiliations include the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, Charleston Chamber Orchestra, and multiple symphonies.
