John Reid

John Reid is a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he has established himself as a versatile pianist and educator. His career spans performance, teaching, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with a particular focus on chamber music, song accompaniment, and contemporary repertoire.

Reid studied at Clare College, Cambridge and at the Royal Academy of Music with Michael Dussek, receiving additional instruction from Christine Croshaw, Malcolm Martineau, and Rudolf Jansen. His educational background provided the foundation for his diverse musical career that combines performance excellence with pedagogical commitment.

As a performer, Reid specializes in chamber music, vocal accompaniment, and contemporary classical works. His repertoire spans from Baroque to cutting-edge new music, with particular expertise in British composers and collaborative performance. He is equally at home on modern and period instruments, demonstrating versatility across historical performance practices.
