John Redden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut. He holds roles as Assistant Director of Faculty Development Programs at the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), and leads the SciBER Lab focusing on physiology education and science communication. Redden earned a B.S. in Pharmacology from SUNY Buffalo and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from UConn Health.
His research bridges physiology education and molecular mechanisms, including service learning pedagogy and scaffold protein signaling. He designs inclusive curricula, assesses student-centered STEM classrooms, and develops science communication skills. Notable contributions include authoring the active learning textbook Anatomy and Physiology in Context and leading projects on pandemic-era education analytics and large-lecture innovations.
