John Ranieri, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Seton Hall University. His research focuses on religious ethics, Islamic philosophy, and theological inquiry. He actively contributes to institutional leadership, serving as Co-Chair of the University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (2023–Present) and participating in strategic planning committees (2020–2022). His work bridges philosophical traditions with religious texts, particularly exploring themes in the Qur’an and interreligious dialogue.
Ranieri’s scholarship examines topics such as the use of force in religious contexts, the portrayal of biblical figures in Islamic texts, and ethical frameworks informed by René Girard’s mimetic theory. His articles reflect a commitment to interdisciplinary analysis at the intersection of theology and philosophy.
Outside academia, he volunteers as a Mass celebrant at St. Anne Church (2012–Present), contributing to community service through religious outreach.
