John P. Schnettler is a Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Austin Peay State University (APSU). He conducts the APSU Wind Ensemble and teaches courses in Conducting and Music Education. With over 14 years of service at APSU, he previously held roles as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands.
- Education: Master of Music in Conducting, Master of Arts in Music Education from University of South Florida; Bachelor of Music Education from University of Central Florida (pursuing doctoral degree at University of Georgia).
His expertise spans music education, wind band conducting, and athletic band leadership. He significantly expanded the Governors Own Marching Band (GOMB) enrollment and performance standards, founded GOMB Day, and enhanced the Mid-South Marching Invitational. He has guest-conducted honor bands, directed Drum & Bugle Corps activities, and authored contributions to the GIA Publications series.
