John P. Cummings is a distinguished physicist serving as both Dean of the School of Science and Assistant Professor of Physics at Siena University. Originally from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, he earned his undergraduate degree in Physics from Johns Hopkins University, followed by a Master's from University of Massachusetts and PhD from Rice University. His research primarily focuses on particle physics with specialization in neutrino oscillations, strong interaction physics, and meson spectroscopy.
Dr. Cummings' educational background includes a Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University, M.A. in Physics from Southeastern Massachusetts University, and B.A. in Physics from Johns Hopkins. His academic career began with postdoctoral research at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before joining Siena University in 2008.
His research interests span particle physics with emphasis on neutrino oscillations, the mixing matrix that describes them, strong interaction physics, meson spectroscopy, and the investigation of dark matter. Dr. Cummings has made significant contributions to experimental particle physics through numerous publications in high-energy physics journals, particularly in the areas of quarkonium spectroscopy, meson production, and searches for exotic particles.
