John P Haran

Dr. John P Haran is a Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, with appointments in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Microbiology, and MD/PhD Program. He serves as Associate Clinical Director of the Center for Microbiome Research.

Research Interests

• Microbiota-Gut-Brain Axis: Investigating links between gut microbiome dysbiosis and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's patients
• Drug-Resistant Pathogens: Studying Clostridium difficile transmission and antimicrobial stewardship
• Post-Traumatic Neurological Disorders: Analyzing microbiome changes after traumatic injury
• Long-COVID: Exploring oral microbiome associations with prolonged symptoms

Publications span neuroscience, microbiome research, and emergency medicine, with recent work focusing on machine learning applications and longitudinal cohort studies of trauma survivors.
