John Morken

John Morken is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). His research focuses on biogas technology, waste management, and environmental sustainability, with a strong emphasis on anaerobic digestion and life cycle assessment.

His research interests include:

• Technology for biogas treatment of organic materials (pretreatment, reactor technology, post-treatment)
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and waste management
• Bioenergy systems and applications
• Utilization of waste fractions in agriculture

His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on modeling and optimizing biogas production systems, particularly through advanced reactor design, pretreatment methods like steam explosion, and co-digestion strategies. The work spans chemical engineering, environmental science, and sustainable energy, with applications in both agricultural and municipal waste contexts.
