John Morison is a Professor at the School of Law, Queen's University Belfast, with affiliations to the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice. His academic work bridges constitutional law and theory, e-democracy, and algorithmic governance, focusing on the intersection of smart cities, AI regulation, and judicial innovation.

His research interrogates how artificial intelligence reshapes legal institutions, including his seminal work on robot judges and automated legal decision-making. He leads the LINAS program, which trains 30 PhD students on the societal implications of AI-driven governance. Morison has advised governments on judicial appointments, e-engagement for older populations, and AI ethics. He serves on editorial boards for journals like Frontiers in Law and European Review of Public Law, and as Chair of the International Academic Advisory Board at Kuwait International Law School. His teaching includes Constitutional and Administrative Law and the Law and the Challenge of Technology LLM module.
