Venkat Iyer

Dr Venkat Iyer is a Senior Lecturer at Ulster University's School of Law, specializing in Media Law, Constitutional & Administrative Law, and Business Law. He actively contributes to academic research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

His research focuses on legal frameworks governing media, constitutional governance, and comparative law systems, with particular emphasis on emergency states and defamation laws across jurisdictions. Recent publications explore law reform, judicial independence, and digital media regulation.

Notable awards include the Nuffield Press Fellowship (1990, Wolfson College) and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. He serves as editor for The Commonwealth Lawyer and The Round Table journals.
