John McEvoy is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Cincinnati, specializing in the history and philosophy of science, political philosophy, and the Chemical Revolution. His work critically examines the historiography of science and its philosophical underpinnings. He holds a B.Sc. (Chemistry) from the University of Liverpool (1964), a Postgraduate Certificate in HPS from Cambridge University (1965), and a PhD in HPS from the University of Pittsburgh (1976).
Key research interests include the Chemical Revolution of the 18th century, interpretations of scientific history, political philosophy (Marx, Foucault, Althusser), and the philosophy of technology.
