John M. Hellmann is a Professor at The Ohio State University's Lima campus, affiliated with the Department of English. His research focuses on 20th-century British and American literature, film studies, and cultural analysis of historical events like the Vietnam War and the JFK legacy. He holds a PhD from Kent State University.
Key works include The Kennedy Obsession (1997), American Myth and the Legacy of Vietnam (1986), and Fables of Fact (1981). His recent essays address postwar intellectual culture and New Hollywood cinema. Hellmann has received grants from ACLS and Fulbright programs, teaching abroad in Belgium and Germany.
