John Lobur is a Professor of Classics at the University of Mississippi, affiliated with the Department of Classics within the College of Liberal Arts. His research focuses on Roman Imperial Ideology, historiography, and ancient rhetoric, with notable works including *Cornelius Nepos: A Study in the Evidence and Influence* (2021) and *Consensus, Concordia, and the Formation of Roman Imperial Ideology* (2008). He teaches courses such as Introduction to Roman Civilization, The Roman Republic, and Latin language studies. Lobur holds a B.A. from Kalamazoo College (1995) and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (2004).
His scholarship emphasizes the ideological foundations of the Roman Empire, particularly the role of consensus and concordia in shaping imperial narratives. He explores themes like civil war, declamation, and textual analysis in ancient literature.
