John Lewis is an Associate Professor of Biology at Lipscomb University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Tennessee Technological University (2002), an M.S. in Wildlife Science from Auburn University (2005), and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M-Kingsville. His research focuses on avian ecology, conducted through partnerships with Warner Parks Nature Center, where he mentors student research projects.
He teaches courses including Principles of Biology: Diversity and Ecology, Biology Capstone, Field Zoology, Ornithology, Limnology, and Desert Ecology. Notably, he co-teaches Exploring Nature, a general education course integrating science and literature. His academic work bridges ecological studies with practical field research and undergraduate mentorship.
