John Lewandowski is the Arthur P. Armington Professor of Engineering at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Case School of Engineering, Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses on material reliability for biomedical and structural applications, advanced materials manufacturing, and processing/microstructure/property relationships, including Hybrid Autonomous Manufacturing. He leads the Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Reliability Center (AMMRC).

- Processing/structure/property relationships in ferrous/non-ferrous materials
- Effects of superposed pressure on deformation/fracture
- Fatigue/fracture of intermetallics, composites, and bulk metallic glasses
- Blast-resistant materials and advanced manufacturing techniques (additive/robotic)
- Failure analysis of biomedical materials
Publications: Over 200 peer-reviewed articles, with recent work emphasizing additive manufacturing, fracture mechanics, and environmental cracking in aluminum alloys.
Grants & Labs: Directs AMMRC, with funding from NSF and industry partners. Research spans material characterization, process optimization, and defect analysis in advanced manufacturing.
