John Levi Martin is the Florence Borchert Bartling Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago. He holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University (1987), M.A. (1990), and Ph.D. (1997) from UC Berkeley. His research focuses on social structures, political fields, and quantitative methodologies, with notable publications like Social Structures (2009) and The Explanation of Social Action (2021). He has held previous faculty positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Rutgers University.
