John Krzeczkowski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University, within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. His research focuses on emotional and cognitive development in infants and children, emphasizing early interventions to optimize brain plasticity and prevent mental disorders. Dr. Krzeczkowski's work bridges developmental psychology, neuroscience, and intervention science, aiming to improve family health outcomes in Canada and globally.
- Research Interests: Infant emotion regulation, neurophysiological synchrony in parent-infant pairs, modifiable risk factors (e.g., parental mood disorders, prenatal diet/exercise), and the DOHaD (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease) framework.
- Teaching Focus: Child physical and mental health, developmental psychology, and evidence-based interventions.
His interdisciplinary approach integrates theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on translational research. He is currently accepting graduate student applications and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed articles exploring prenatal exposures, postpartum interventions, and neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Key research themes include optimizing maternal and child health through diet/exercise interventions, understanding the impact of maternal mental health on infant development, and leveraging neurophysiological data to inform clinical practices.
