Professor John Kinuthia is a leading academic in sustainable construction materials at the University of South Wales, heading the Advanced Materials Testing Centre. His research focuses on developing eco-friendly building materials using industrial/agricultural waste, with expertise in geopolymer concrete, soil stabilization, and nanomaterials. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering Materials from the University of Glamorgan (1997), an MSc in Highway Engineering from the University of Birmingham (1988), and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Nairobi (1983).
Research Interests: Professor Kinuthia’s work emphasizes sustainable construction through innovation in materials like unfired clay bricks, recycled plastic aggregates, and geopolymer systems. His research integrates environmental sustainability with practical applications, including cost-effective housing solutions for Africa supported by UNESCO. Notable expertise includes:
