John J. Vrionis Jr. is a Lecturer in Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Notre Dame. He is also the Founder and Managing Partner of Unusual Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm focused on product market fit for technology startups. Previously, he served as a General Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners for 12 years and has invested in notable companies like AppDynamics, Pinterest, and Robinhood.
Education: AB in Economics from Harvard University (1997), MS in Computer Science from the University of Chicago (2001), and MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2006).
Research interests center on entrepreneurship and venture capital, particularly the dynamics of product market fit in IT startups, collaborating with Andy Rachleff. His teaching includes the course Product/Market Fit at Stanford.
Professional experience spans venture capital, product management, and even professional soccer in the USA and UK (1997–99).
