Dr. John J. Voorhees is the Duncan O and Ella M Poth Distinguished Professor of Dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He has dedicated over five decades to advancing dermatology through groundbreaking research, mentorship, and leadership.

Dr. Voorhees' research focuses on psoriasis and aging skin. His work established psoriasis as an immune-mediated disease treatable with immunosuppressive drugs, while his studies on UV-induced and natural aging revealed mechanisms of collagen degradation, enabling pharmacological interventions for photoaging.
Recent publications highlight his ongoing contributions to psoriasis genetics (2025), dermal aging models (2024), and UV damage mechanisms (1996). Key themes include autoimmune disorders, collagen dynamics, and translational dermatology.
