John J. Ramirez-Avila

John J. Ramirez-Avila is an Associate Professor and Co-Graduate Coordinator at Mississippi State University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He directs the Watersheds & Water Quality Research Lab and holds professional certifications including Professional Hydrologist (P.H.) and M. ASCE designation.

His research investigates surface/subsurface hydrology, agricultural pollution mitigation, and stream restoration techniques. He applies computational modeling to watershed management challenges.

He teaches courses in watershed management, environmental modeling, and water quality assessment while advising graduate students and leading field research initiatives.
