John Halstead

John Halstead is a Professor and Program Coordinator for Environmental and Resource Economics at the University of New Hampshire's Natural Resources and the Environment department. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in Resource Economics from UMass Amherst, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Research Interests: Environmental economics, resource management, waste pricing policies, agricultural sustainability, and rural development. His work focuses on policy evaluation, consumer behavior, and the economic impacts of environmental policies.

Grants & Funding: Principal investigator on projects such as 'Economic Benefits of Lowering Arsenic Levels in NH Water' (NH DES) and 'Sustaining Local Agriculture' (USDA). Collaborates on infrastructure, waste management, and community development initiatives.

Teaching: Teaches courses in environmental and resource economics, land economics, and rural development. Recent courses include EREC 411, EREC 606, and RAM 911.

Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles, including studies on unit-based waste pricing, local agriculture markets, and invasive species impacts on property values. Recent works address PFAS remediation and behavioral economics in environmental policy.
