John Greiner is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Computer Science at Rice University, specializing in online education and curriculum development. He has taught extensively for over 20 years, focusing on algorithms, programming, and online course design. He leads Rice's online Master of Computer Science program and pioneered the university's first MOOC and flipped classroom initiatives. Greiner holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University (1997) and a BA from Rice University (1989).
His research emphasizes improving teaching methodologies, including video-based curricula and integrating communication skills into technical education. He coaches the ACM/ICPC programming contest teams and serves as a liaison for NCWIT. Greiner's service includes curriculum reviews at the university level and advising roles in Hanszen College.
