Yang Tang is a Clinical Associate Professor of Computer Science at New York University (NYU) and the coach of NYU’s International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) team. He holds a B.Eng. in Computer Science and Technology from Tsinghua University (2009), an M.Phil. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2011), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University (2020), where he worked under Prof. Junfeng Yang. His research focuses on parallel programming reliability, cloud computing, mobile app security, and distributed systems. Notable contributions include work on Stable Multithreading (StableMT), secure cloud storage systems (e.g., FADE and NCCloud), and bug detection tools like AppDoctor. He has also contributed to academic outreach through ICPC coaching and curriculum development.
His research spans systems reliability, security, and efficient cloud storage solutions. He has published extensively in areas such as network coding for storage repair, serverless computing optimization, and dynamic program analysis. His work emphasizes practical systems that enhance software reliability and security in distributed and mobile environments.
