Dr. John Glenn is an Associate Professor of International Politics and International Political Economy (IPE) at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on US-China relations, financial crises, resilience discourse, and neoliberalism. He has authored influential works such as China's Challenge to US Supremacy (2016) and Foucault and Post-Financial Crises (2019). Glenn currently supervises a PhD student in Politics and leads multiple interdisciplinary research projects funded by organizations like the SASAKAWA Foundation and the World Bank. His recent publications explore geopolitical competition, resilience theory, and resource frontier dynamics.
Research interests include the socio-economic impacts of globalization, fragile states, and the evolution of risk governance. He contributes to courses on Development and International Relations, International Relations Theory, and Economic Globalization.
Key grants include the 'Sustainability and Resilience Institute: Artisanal Mining in Zambia' and the 'Resilient Society Interdisciplinary Grant: Resilience and Migration.' Glenn is affiliated with the Centre for Eastern European and Eurasian Studies and actively engages in policy-oriented research.
