John Gilbert is a Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and Finance at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, Utah State University. He specializes in international trade theory and policy, with a focus on computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling. His work includes analyzing trade liberalization impacts, regional trade agreements, and trade policy simulations for institutions like the World Bank and the United Nations. Gilbert has authored numerous books and peer-reviewed articles, including Introduction to Numerical Simulation for Trade Theory and Policy (2013) and contributed to policy handbooks such as Trade Statistics in Policymaking (2007).
Education: Ph.D. in Economics (University of Auckland, 1998), Bachelor of Commerce in Economics (University of Auckland, 1993).
Research Interests: International trade theory, trade policy analysis, CGE modeling, economic development, and economics education. His recent work explores strategic trade interactions, labor market effects of technical change, and the economic impacts of regional trade agreements like the TPP.
