معرفی
John Francis Kalaska is a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neuroscience. He specializes in neural mechanisms underlying motor control, decision-making, and cortical processes. His affiliations include the Membre SNC (Neural Signaling and Circuitry Group) and CIRCA (Interdisciplinary Brain and Learning Research Center).
Research Projects:
- UNIQUE (Neurosciences & AI Québec) – Leading collaborative projects with experts like Yoshua Bengio and Karim Jerbi.
- Cerebral cortical mechanisms for motor and non-motor decisions (IRSC-funded).
- Investigating feedback/feedforward contributions to motor skill learning (2016–2024).
Grants & Funding:
- FQRNT grants for strategic research groups (e.g., UNIQUE).
- IRSC funding for studies on cortical decision-making and motor planning.
Advising: Supervised over 10 PhD and Master's students since 1992, focusing on topics like motor decision-making, neural compensation for dynamic perturbations, and psychophysical studies.
Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary groups such as the Groupe de Recherche sur le Système Nerveux Central (GRSNC) and CIRCA.
