John Erik Fossum is a Professor at the ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo. His research focuses on political theory, democracy, and constitutionalism in the European Union (EU) and Canada, with particular emphasis on differentiated integration, segmentation, and the transformation of nation states under EU influence. He has been a leading scholar in applying federal theory to the EU’s unique political structure.
