John Dwyer

John Dwyer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Relations & Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph, within the College of Social & Applied Human Sciences. His research focuses on promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours, particularly physical activity and reducing sedentariness among adults and adolescents. He holds a PhD in applied social psychology and has 15 years of experience as a program evaluation specialist in Ontario Public Health Units.

Research Interests: Dr. Dwyer explores the psychological and behavioral aspects of physical activity adoption and sedentary behavior reduction. His work integrates public health strategies with social psychology principles to design interventions that encourage active lifestyles. He emphasizes translating research into practical applications for community and clinical settings.

Prior Experience: Before academia, he worked full-time in public health program evaluation, applying his expertise to improve health promotion initiatives.
