John Dutton is an Adjunct Professor at the USC School of Architecture and principal of Dutton Architects, a Los Angeles-based firm specializing in both individual building design (residential, commercial, civic) and urban frameworks (master planning, urban interventions, corridor design). He holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.Arch from Princeton University. His research focuses on the intersection of architecture and urbanism, emphasizing sustainable frameworks for suburban metropolises. He has authored the book *New American Urbanism: (Re)forming the Suburban Metropolis* and lectured globally.
At USC, Dutton teaches courses such as Global Studies Topics in Architecture, Urbanism, History & Art (406), and Field Studies in Urbanism (425L) and Tectonics (426L). He has led design studios and overseen the Barcelona program for undergraduate Global Studies for a decade.
