Dr. John Duley is an Honorary Senior Fellow at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Queensland. With a prolific publication record spanning over 50 years (from 1974 to 2024), his work demonstrates enduring contributions to pharmaceutical sciences and biochemistry.
Dr. Duley's research interests span multiple disciplines, with early work focused on alcohol metabolism and enzyme genetics, then evolving to purine and pyrimidine metabolism, pharmacogenetics of thiopurine therapies, and most recently milk biochemistry. His work bridges fundamental biochemical research with clinical applications.
Analysis of Dr. Duley's recent publications (2021-2024) reveals a strong dual focus: continued contributions to pharmacogenetics (particularly regarding thiopurine therapies for inflammatory bowel disease and fluoropyrimidine toxicity in cancer patients) alongside extensive work on milk biochemistry examining the effects of processing methods on bioactive proteins in human and camel milk.
Dr. Duley has collaborated extensively with researchers across multiple institutions, with frequent co-authorship with scientists from The University of Queensland including David Cowley, Paul Shaw, Nidhi Bansal, and Zhengzheng Zou. His work demonstrates a remarkable ability to bridge basic biochemical research with clinical applications across diverse domains.
