John Doucette is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta (2005), a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Dalhousie University, 1996), and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Dalhousie University (1992).
His primary research interests include:
- Optimization and Operations Research
- Reliability and Availability
- Network Design and Optimization
- Network Capacity Planning
- Network Restoration and Protection
- eHealth and Health ICT
Professor Doucette teaches the Capstone Design Project (MEC E 460) and supervises Directed Research Projects (MEC E 900 and MEC E 910) for graduate students, emphasizing creative design solutions and engineering report development in the Mechanical Engineering department.
