John Dierx

John Dierx serves as a Lecturer at Avans University of Applied Sciences, leading the 'Equal Opportunities for Healthy Choices' research group relaunched in 2023. Previously, he founded the 'Lifelong in Motion' research group in 2016. He holds a PhD in Neuroendocrinology from Wageningen University (1999) and a Master of Public Health from the Netherlands School of Occupational and Public Health (2012), where he remains a guest lecturer.

Dierx possesses extensive expertise in public health, behavioral change, sports science, and active lifestyles. His current research prioritizes creating equitable conditions for healthy decision-making through individualized approaches, with behavioral modification as the cornerstone. Earlier work under 'Lifelong in Motion' investigated exercise impacts on healthy populations, establishing foundational insights for his current equity-focused initiatives.

Prior to academia, Dierx held leadership roles at the Dutch Heart Foundation (program manager for public information), Dutch Digestive and Intestinal Foundation (head of public information and care), and GGD West-Brabant (team/program manager for prevention and local health policy, 2006-2012).
