John Dennehy

John Dennehy serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Queens College, City University of New York, where he actively contributes to the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program. This nationwide initiative integrates authentic research experiences into undergraduate curricula through bacteriophage discovery and genomic analysis.

His research spans Microbiology, Phage Genomics, and Evolutionary Biology, emphasizing hands-on student engagement in viral genomics and bioinformatics. Through SEA-PHAGES, he develops educational frameworks for phage isolation, genome sequencing, and functional annotation, advancing both scientific knowledge and pedagogical approaches in life sciences education.
