Dr. John Davies is a Research Fellow and Associate Director of the Arts Lab at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the School of Humanities within the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a PhD in Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic from the University of Cambridge and has held academic positions at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and the University of Edinburgh before joining Glasgow in 2008. His research focuses on medieval ecclesiastical history, liturgy, medieval Scottish law, and cross-cultural comparative history, with notable work on the Regiam Maiestatem and the cultural heritage of Bengal.
He has been editor of The Innes Review since 2012 and serves on multiple academic councils, including the Scottish Catholic Historical Association. Davies is also engaged with liturgical committees in the Scottish Episcopal Church and has led collaborative projects in India and Kerala. His recent publications include critical editions of medieval legal texts and studies on global medieval studies.

Research Interests: Ecclesiastical history of Britain, medieval charters and chronicles, liturgical theology, comparative history, and cultural heritage preservation. His work bridges medieval European and Asian studies, particularly through collaborations in India and Kerala.
Grants & Projects: Led projects such as 'Re-imaging Kochi’s Jewish Life' and 'Merchant Ships and Forest Groves' in Kerala. Collaborations include the University of Calcutta, University of Hyderabad, and international institutions.
