John D. Nowik, M.M., serves as Director of Music and University Organist at Seton Hall University and Adjunct Professor of Liturgy and Music at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology. He has held these positions since 1996 while teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and initiated Seton Hall's undergraduate Pastoral Music Certificate program in Spring 2014 through collaboration between Catholic Studies, the School of Theology, and Communication & Arts departments.

His research and professional focus centers on liturgical music integration, with expertise in sacred organ performance and choral direction for Catholic worship. As Music Director, he has led cathedral and seminary choirs in international performances at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome before Pope John Paul II, demonstrating exceptional integration of academic scholarship with real-world liturgical practice. His teaching methodology connects theoretical musicology with hands-on worship leadership.
He mentors students through both formal coursework and practical ensemble direction, with significant program development including the Pastoral Music Certificate initiative.
