John Crowe is a Technical Instructor in Video and Design/Animation at Bennington College since Fall 2020. His work focuses on time-based art, video installations, and sculptural recontextualizations of cinematic elements. He holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art and studied Experimental Animation at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

Research Interests: Crowe explores non-narrative video installations and large-scale sculptures that distill cinema into vignettes. His practice emphasizes materiality (e.g., 16mm film) and the interplay between ephemeral media and physical space. He critiques cinematic conventions by flattening temporal structures through looping video and spatial interventions.
Labs/Teams: Cofounded VML in 2011, a live performance video group specializing in video signal feedback manipulation.
