Professor John C. Sperrin Johnson (1885–1948) served as Professor of Botany at University College Cork from 1932 until his death. A multidisciplinary scholar, he held degrees including MB BCh BAO (1913), MSc (1911), and MA (1910) from UCC. His career included roles as Professor of Biology at the University of Auckland (1914–1931) and participation in archaeological expeditions in Palestine under Sir Flinders Petrie. He was noted for his interdisciplinary interests in music, folklore, and botany.
