John Bunning

Dr John Bunning is a Senior Lecturer and Quality Enhancement Coordinator in the Department of Computing at Sheffield Hallam University, where he has worked since 1989. Previously, he held roles at Nottingham Trent Polytechnic (5 years) and Rotherham College of Arts and Technology (2 years). He completed a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and taught physics in a Derbyshire school. His research focuses on liquid crystals and their physical properties, including elastic constants and applications in solar cell interfaces.

Teaching spans Physics, Science Education, Sport Technology, and Business/Enterprise. He co-supervised doctoral research on discotic liquid crystals and serves as Module Leader for Physics in the Northern Consortium of UK Universities.
