He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on optical, electro-optical, and photo-optical properties of polymeric and liquid crystalline materials, including 1D-3D switchable diffractive structures, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition thin films, and phototunable materials like azo-based actuators and cholesteric liquid crystals.
He has received the APS Dillon Medal and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and SPIE. With over 230 technical publications (150 peer-reviewed) and 12 patents, his work spans composites, fibers, and textile materials. He actively participates in technical communities such as the Materials Research Society and American Chemical Society.
