John Brownstein, PhD is a Professor of Pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital and an Affiliate Member of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School. As Chief Innovation Officer at BCH, he specializes in leveraging digital technologies to analyze disease patterns and drive public health strategies. His pioneering work in 'digital epidemiology' integrates diverse data sources to understand population health dynamics, with a particular focus on geospatial analysis.
He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Yale University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital before joining the faculty. His research is supported by grants from prestigious institutions including NIH, USAID, DoD, CDC, and the Gates Foundation.
